IGS Ground Services owns and operates a Cargo Terminal at Keflavik International Airport and all cargo equipments needed for loading and unloading. We can serve all types of aircrafts. The facilities are 4,500 m2 and is built up with the best available technology, both equipments and logistic systems.
In 2014 1,000 m2 cooling facility was added to the current warehouse. The cooling facility is equipped with a new precooling system. The system produces an air stream which allows the ambient air of the refrigerated warehouse to be circulated through the pallets. This means that the cool air reaches the interior areas of the pallets in the shortest possible time. This process greatly reduces the cooling down period. The accelerated cooling slows down the ripening and thus increases the possible storage period of perishables.
The opening of the warehouse in Keflavik Airport was in summer 2001 and since then IGS has been servicing different carriers, for example Icelandair Cargo and DHL.
IGS Ground Services offers all general cargo warehousing services including:
• Cargo processing
• Palletization / build-up and breakdown
• Cargo documentation
• Liaison with customs
• Issuing of airway bills
• Freezing and cooling facilities for perishables
• Dangerous Goods (DGR), Live Animals (AVI) and Valuables (VAL) services
